Developmental work and reintegration
Tâmam believes in education as a means for changing lives. With a proper education and a recognized diploma the street children will have a good point of departure for a normal lifestyle as a responsible citizen. We find it important to look at their natural abilities and interests in order to point the child into the right direction.
Tâmam co-works with Tâmam Carpentry and Training, a young enterprise started by one of our founders. Cobus Martin is a fully trained carpenter, trainer and accessor. He offers on-the-job-training according to the standards of CETA (Constructions, Education and Training Authority). This schooling is concluded with a diploma, accredited by the government, with which the students have a better chance to find a job. While teaching all kinds of carpentry skills, the trainer mentors and guides the trainee in all kind of life skills.
In 2015 Tâmam started with a small education fund. With this fund we can support our clients and their children with school costs. We emphasize that we don’t want to take over the responsibility of the parents. Merely we want to support and encourage them also financially. This practical way of relationship-based work needs to stay in line with our vision of not being a ‘giving’ organisation. At all time we want to avoid dependency.
